MR. HARVINDER SINGH PHOOLKA
Lawyer, Delhi High Court
Harvinder Singh Phoolka is a senior advocate of Delhi High Court, Human Rights activist,
and an author. After completing his law degree in Chandigarh, Phoolka practiced law in
Delhi. He spearheaded one of the longest and most tortuous legal “crusades” to gain justice
for the victims of 1984 Anti-Sikh massacre, fighting individual cases. He served as member-
secretary of the Justice Narula Committee formed in 1993 to probe the carnage. Phoolka
was appointed the counsel for Central Government in January 2001. He is known as a
lawyer who won’t take up a case if he finds that the client is in the wrong. The Outlook
Magazine included Phoolka in its list of 50 people that make a difference in India.
DR MANMOHAN SINGH JI
Former Prime Minister of India
Dr Manmohan Singh, India’s fourteenth Prime Minister, is highly acclaimed as a thinker and
a scholar. He is well regarded for his diligence and his academic approach to work, as well
as his accessibility and his unassuming demeanour. Manmohan Singh was born on 26th
Sept 1932, in a village in Punjab, India. He completed his Matriculation exams from Punjab
University in 1948. Then in 1957, at the University of Cambridge (UK) he attained a 1st
class (Hons) degree in Economics, followed by a D.Phil in Economics from Oxford
University in 1962.
MR HARJIT SINGH SAJJAN
Minister of National Defence
Harjit Singh is a Canadian Liberal politician, the current Minister of National Defence
and a Member of Parliament representing the riding of Vancouver South. He is the
first Sikh to become Minister of Defence. Sajjan was first elected during the 2015
federal election, defeating Conservative incumbent MP Wai Young, and was sworn as
defence minister into the Cabinet, headed by Justin Trudeau, on November 4, 2015.
Before politics, Sajjan was a detective investigating gangs for the Vancouver Police
Department and a regimental commander in the Canadian Armed Forces decorated
for his service in Afghanistan. Sajjan was also the first Sikh-Canadian to command a
Canadian Army reserve regiment.
MR SURENDER SINGH KANDHAR
Chairman of Al Dobowi Group
Surender Singh is youngest President of the Automobile Association of Andhra Pradesh
and youngest Captain of the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. Chairman of Al Dobowi Group,
one of the largest tyre distribution companies in the world, he contributed a total of 65million
Arab Emirate Dirhams to build the first legal Gurudwara in the United Arab Emirates. It is
built on land donated by the ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum. The structure is over 100,000sq foot and has served over 40,000 worshippers in
a single day. The Gurudwara had its opening ceremony in 2012.
MR SURINDER PAL SINGH OBEROI
Chairman, Apex Group of Companies
Surinder Pal Singh Oberoi, 57, is a Dubai-based businessman from a small town in
Punjab. He came to Dubai in 1980 as a mechanic, returned to India after a year to
launch a family business, and then returned to the emirate to start his own company.
Mr Oberoi is well known for his charity work. Over the years, he has secured the
release of 54 Indians by collecting donations and using his own funds – including the
17 men freed recently – sentenced to death for various crimes in the United Arab
Emirates.

CEO and founder of ElectionMall Technologies
Ravi Singh is the CEO and founder of ElectionMall Technologies, a pioneer company in the
field of online politics. Ravi Singh is the first American with a turban to graduate from a US
Military Academy and the first Asian American and Sikh with a turban to run for office in the
42nd Illinois General Assembly. He has dedicated his life to the promotion of e-democracy,
which earned him the name of Campaign Guru. Ravi has been profiled in Business Week
Magazine and many others and served as technology adviser for Colombian President Juan
Manuel Santos, among other world leaders.
MR. SANT SINGH CHATWAL
CEO, Hampshire Hotels & Resorts
Sant Singh is the president and CEO of Hampshire Hotels & Resorts and has hotels in
the USA, UK and Thailand with over 2,500 rooms in Manhattan. Sant Singh is trustee of
William J. Clinton Foundation, Clinton Global Initiative and the Urban Enterprise
Initiative. He was honoured with ‘Order of Khalsa’ award by Govt. of Punjab (India) in
1999 for outstanding service to community. Chatwal company invested $200 million in
India for hotels over next 5 years with rights given for franchise and management to
Wyndham Hotel Group. Sant Singh works closely with the Democratic Party, in
particular Hilary Clinton.
MR. AJAYPAL SINGH BANGA
President & CEO, MasterCard Worldwide
Mr. Ajaypal Singh Banga, aged 51, is the current president and CEO of MasterCard Inc and
on the Board of Directors. He succeeded Robert W. Selander in July 2010. Beginning his
business career with Nestle in 1981, Ajaypal Singh spent the next 13 years in a variety of
assignments spanning sales, marketing, and general management. He later joined Pepsico
and was instrumental in the launch of its international fast food franchises in India as the
economy liberalised. Within the last five years, Ajaypal Singh served on the boards of
Trustees of Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., the National Urban League and the New
York Hall of Science, and was Director of the Council for Economic Education. He was
named by The Economic Times of India as the fourth ‘Most Powerful Indian’ in the world.
PADMA SHRI VIKRAMJIT SINGH SAHNEY
Chairman, Sun Foundation
Padma Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahney is an entrepreneur, social activist, reformist,
philanthropist, and Chairman of the Sun Foundation which is an NGO engaged in
women empowerment through the Skill & Save girl child campaign, empowering
the disabled and orphans. He also runs drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation
centres and various other social activities. He has set up a World Class Skill
Centre in West Delhi for providing free skills training to 84 riot victims & BPL
families. He is the International President of World Punjabi Organisation,
President of International Chamber of Commerce Paris – India, Chairman of
SAARC CCI, Honorary Consul General of South Africa, Chairman of BRICS Agri
Business Council, Board Member of National Skill Development Corporation,
Member Board of Trade (Govt. of India) and a Member of PM’s India-Africa CEO
Forum.
MR. HARDEEP SINGH PURI
Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs
Hardeep Singh is the current Union Minister of State with Independent Charge in the
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He is a 1974 batch Indian Foreign Service officer
who served as the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations from 2009
to 2013. He formerly served as Chairman of United Nations Security Council Counter-
Terrorism Committee, Vice President of International Peace Institute and Secretary-
General of Independent Commission on Multilateralism in New York. As of 2 September
2017, he has been appointed as one of the new ministers in Prime Minister Modi’s
Cabinet.

Prof. Peter Virdee – Prof. Peter Virdee, born and raised in Birmingham, brings his Sikh faith to his
commitment to business and philanthropy in Britain. “Blessed is the godly person and the riches they
possess because they can be used for charitable purposes and to give happiness”
Guru Amar Das, one of Sikhism’s ten gurus, is reported to have said. Working hard to generate wealth is
good, but only if the fruits of one’s labours are distributed well.
‘Sewa’ or service to the community is essential to a Sikh.
FAUJA SINGH
British Sikh supercentenarian and former marathon runner
Fauja singh- Fauja Singh is a British Sikh supercentenarian and former marathon runner
of Punjabi Indian descent. He has beaten a number of world records in multiple age brackets, but none of
his times have been ratified as records. His current personal best time for the London Marathon (2003) is 6
hours 2 minutes, [4] and his marathon record, for age 90-plus, is 5 hours 40 minutes at the age of 92, at the

Reuben Singh is a British entrepreneur and CEO of contact centre company alldayPA
and private equity firm Isher Capital. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s for his Miss Attitude retail
chain. He has held many public appointments and was invited by the then Prime Minister Tony Blair to serve
on a government advisory panel on small businesses and on the Competitiveness Council. He served on
the seven-man government task force which was asked to review and then report on the Department of
Culture, Media, and Sport. He was appointed to the DTIs Competitiveness Council and the Small Business
Council by the government and is known as the & British Bill Gates & He is also an advocate for the National
Living Wage .
S. MONTY PANESAR
English international Cricketer
Mudhsuden Singh & Monty & Panesar is a former English international cricketer. A left-
arm spinner , Panesar made his Test cricket debut in 2006 against India in Nagpur and One Day
International debut for England in 2007. In English county cricket, he last played for Northamptonshire in
2016, and has previously played for Northamptonshire until 2009, Sussex from 2010 to 2013
and Essex from 2013 to 2015. He has also played for the Lions in South Africa .
MR. MILKHA SINGH
Sportsman
Milkha Singh is an Indian athlete, nicknamed the Flying Sikh. He won Gold in both 200m
and 400m events at 1958 Asian Games, clocking 21.6 seconds and 47 seconds
respectively. He also won Gold in the 400m at the 1958 Cardiff Commonwealth Games with
a time of 46.16 seconds. This achievement made him the first gold medallist at
Commonwealth Games from Independent India. He has represented India in Olympics in
1960 (Rome), 1964 (Tokyo) 1956 (Melbourne) in both the 200m and 400m events. Post
retirement, Milkha Singh holds Director of Sports in Punjab. He is the father of professional
golfer Jeev Milkha Singh.

Onkar Singh Kanwar is a Science and Administration graduate from the University of
California. In 2002 he took control as the Chairman of Apollo Tyres Ltd, founded by his
father in 1976, growing it to one of India largest tyre makers with revenues of $2.5 billion
and factories in India, the Netherlands and South Africa. He’s also diversified into
healthcare with Artemis brand super specialty hospitals in northern India. Onkar Singh is
passionate about learning modern management practices and their successful application
in business. He is member of many organisations, including the Trade Advisory Committee
to the Government of India.
